Flowers are delicate parts of nature that have a beauty to them that have never been able to be replicated. While flowers are undoubtedly beautiful, they all have magickal energies and vibrations to them that any witch can use. For the witch that has a garden full of flowers, they may know how to use each flower, but even with all the experience, it can be challenging to remember what each flower can offer to you. Instead of trying to remember what each flower offers in their energies, you can focus on the flowers that grow in each season. In this particular article, we will be focusing on some of the flowers that bloom during Spring. Any of these Spring flowers will make great tools to use if you plan on having an Ostara ceremony or if you want to use the magick that blossoms during Ostara for your magickal spells. If you do not have a Spring themed garden now, you may wish to create one after learning which flowers you can plant during Spring.
Azalea
Azaleas are brightly colored flowers belonging to the Rhododendron family. Azaleas represent the good qualities people have. They can bring happiness and lighten your spirit when you are having a bad day. Azaleas have been used to express new emotions that are beginning to bloom, such as new romances. Azaleas are popular to grow during Ostara since they give off an energy that can help you stay grounded and balanced, inspire abundance through wealth or boosting your creativity, and can also help inspire love and romance for yourself and others. If you plan on using Azaleas during an Ostara ritual, never consume them as the flowers are highly poisonous if consumed.
Daffodil
Daffodils are brightly colored flowers that tend to start blooming around late March, which is when Ostara is celebrated. Daffodils are popular flowers to use during Spring spells due to their connection to love, luck, and fertility. When you gift a bundle of Daffodils to someone, you are wishing them luck and aiding in their endeavors. But be sure that you are giving more than one Daffodil because a single Daffodil brings ill-fortune. For love, place Daffodils on your Ostara altar when working on love spells, and they will help you have a more successful spell. If you put fresh Daffodils in your home, they will do one of two things, depending on your intention. They can boost your fertility if you are looking to start a family, or they can keep away negative energies so you can have a positive Ostara.
Freesia
Freesias are another brightly colored Spring flowers that have a sweet and fragrant smell. While each Freesia color symbolizes different energy, the flowers have shared strengths any witch can use regardless of the color. For one, Freesias can help clear your mind so that you can have the drive and courage to take on changes in your life. If you meditate with Freesias during Ostara, they can potentially remove mental blocks that keep you from moving forward in your dreams and goals. Freesias have a fantastic ability to help you see your self-worth, thus helping you love yourself more, which is essential to have, especially if you are suffering from depression or other mental strains.
Hyacinth
Hyacinths are blue flowers best known for its healing properties, specifically in healing grief. When used as oil or incense, it can protect you from nightmares and other negative energies that may try to harm you while you sleep. The oil and incense can also help you if you feel like you need balance or feel abandoned since the calming scents can relax you and help center yourself. If you smudge with Hyacinth, it can banish negative energies and help positive ones come into place. You can also use Hyacinth in love spells as the flower can bring happiness, brighten your mood, and can heal a broken heart.
Iris
Irises come in a wide variety of colors, but they always have three petals that stick out from the center of the flower. These petals symbolize faith, bravery, and wisdom, so it is the perfect flower to use in rituals around these three energies. Along with these symbols, the Iris is believed to help you find balance in yourself, boost your intuition, and help you find inner truth, which are all key elements to achieve during Ostara. When you meditate with Iris surrounding you, it should help you get an energy boost and have more creative ideas. Iris are also good to use if you need to purify an area before performing spells and rituals.
Lilac
Lilacs are lovely Spring flowers that bloom in a wide variety of colors. They also have a pleasant calming scent that can be smelled from some distance away. Unfortunately, these flowers only bloom for a few weeks, so you'll need to work with them quickly before they can no longer grow. Lilacs are best known for bringing you wisdom when meditating with them. They can also help you improve your memory, which in turn can potentially help you retain new information better. If you are looking for a luck boost, then have a vase of Lilacs in the center of your home. If you manage to find a five-petaled Lilac flower, you can expect luck to come to you easier.
Pansy
Pansies bloom in a variety of colors and patterns, so you should have no issue finding the color blend you like. Pansies are best associated with being flowers of love. They can help you find love, strengthen relationships, and can be a helpful meditation tool when performing divination related to love. You can potentially improve your Third Eye’s vision if you regularly meditate with Pansies around you. Pansies can bring protection to a Witch and their home if planted outside around the house. If brought inside, Pansies can purify the air of negative energies.
Peony
Ostara is a time where witches are trying to get rid of negative energies to open themselves up for positive ones and changes. Peonies are great flowers to use to banish negative energies since they have the natural ability to protect against hexes, jinxes, and misfortune. They can help draw good fortune and luck to you as well as the desire to accomplish new things. Spells that use Peonies can help you focus and keep your mind clear of ill thoughts. Be sure only to use the flower in spells as the seeds can be used to bring misfortune.
Primrose
Primroses are one of the first flowers to bloom during Spring, so you’ll most likely see an abundance of Primrose during Ostara. It is believed that the essence of a primrose flower can help you find your grounding better in life and during meditation. Primroses can bring peace and tranquility, even in the most troublesome of situations. If you have a suspicion that someone is hiding something, talk to them while around Primroses since Primroses can break down barriers of secrecy so you can see the truth. If you collect morning dew off of a Primrose petal on the morning of Ostara, you can use the dew in spells around rejuvenation and growth.
Tulip
Tulips are some of the first flowers you will see blooming before and after Ostara. They come in a wide variety of colors, so you should take advantage of their colors for the spells you plan to do during Ostara. Here are a few examples of the uses of some of the Tulip colors. Purple tulips are best used in spells to boost your power or to banish negative energies. Orange and red tulips should be used for spells around love; they can help encourage attraction and draw the attention of the one you desire to you. Yellow tulips should be placed in the home to protect those inside from harm. And white tulips will aid you during spring-cleaning to cleanse the air in the house.
These Spring flowers should be easy for you to grow and maintain so long as you live in a climate that generally follows the climate changes per season. If you cannot have an Ostara themed garden outside your home, many of these flowers will still be able to prosper in a windowsill planter box. If you go with the indoor method, be sure to pick a window that gets plenty of direct sunlight during the day so that your Spring flowers can grow and blossom to their fullest potential. The more of these flowers that you can plant, the better the Ostara magick you will be able to gather and use. If you can keep the flowers alive throughout all of Spring, then you can use bits of the Ostara magick the flowers have gathered, even past the Spring Equinox. When you meditate surrounded by these Spring flowers, you should feel a sense of ease, love, and determination thanks to the energy these flowers radiate.
